Photographic series
Photography, staging
and colour grading.
The Project
A vast place,
a tiny body.
A series shot in a disused building covered in graffiti, where vegetation has taken back the floor. In every image, the same figure in black.
The figure is never the subject: it climbs a staircase, sits on a concrete block, crouches at the foot of a wall, stands in a doorway. Always small in the frame, always from behind or in shadow, it serves as a measure of the space around it.
My Role
The pictures are taken in available light, between ISO 200 and 1600, then graded as a set: colours desaturated towards blue-violet, greens pulled towards teal. The grain is kept.

Building the Identity
One grade for the whole series.
All six images share the same cool cast: that is what turns a set of shots into a series.

Palette sampled from the project’s own visuals.
The Decision
The body gives the scale; the place tells the rest.
The Work
In detail.
The window
The figure climbs the wall beneath a large window, half caught in the ivy. It is the only image in which the body acts on the place instead of simply standing in it.

The wall
A graffiti piece fills the whole back wall; the figure, crouching in the corner, barely reaches a third of its height.

The roof frame
The collapsed roof frames the image like a second doorway. At the back, the figure stands inside a real one.

The series

In short
The place first,
the body second.
In every frame, the architecture fills almost the whole image; the figure takes up only a small part of it, and that is what makes the space readable.
