Freelance packaging and retail designer for premium brands

Packaging is the part of a brand people hold, and it has to work in the store, in a photograph and on a screen. I design boxes, labels and retail materials with the structure, material and finishes decided at the same time as the graphics. It is the work I did at Officine Générale from May 2022 to February 2024, signage and international communication tools included.

Who it’s for

  • Fashion and lifestyle labels extending into objects: candles, accessories, gift boxes.
  • Premium and beauty brands launching a product or a range that has to sit within an existing identity.
  • Brands opening a store, a corner or a pop-up that need signage in line with the rest of their communication.

What I deliver

  • Packaging: boxes, gift boxes, labels.
  • Choice of structure, material, embossing and finishes.
  • Print-ready artwork for the printer.
  • 3D imagery of the product and its packaging for campaign and e-commerce.
  • Retail materials: signage, point-of-sale displays, in-store communication.
  • Product staging and imagery for the e-shop and social media.
  • Production follow-up with printers and manufacturers.

How it works

Four steps

  1. 01 — Constraints

We list what the pack has to protect, hold and say, along with the manufacturing and budget constraints.

  2. 02 — Concept

I propose a graphic and structural principle, shown as a mock-up or a 3D image so it can be judged in volume.

  3. 03 — Artwork

I finalise the graphics, materials and finishes, and prepare the files for each supplier.

  4. 04 — Production

I follow proofs and samples, then stage the finished product for the campaign and the e-shop.

Frequently asked

Before we talk

How much does packaging design cost?

The budget depends on the number of SKUs, on whether the structure is new or a standard format, on the finishes involved (embossing, special papers) and on what comes with the pack: 3D imagery, retail materials. Manufacturing itself is a matter for the printer or manufacturer.

Do you handle printing and manufacturing?

I prepare the print-ready files and follow production with your suppliers: proofs, samples, corrections. At Officine Générale I coordinated suppliers and followed print and digital production; it is the same work.

Can you create 3D packaging visuals?

Yes. For the Daily Classics candle (2024), the box was staged in 3D images: multiplied, aligned and stacked, it produced a series of campaign visuals with no set and no model.

Do you also design signage and point-of-sale materials?

Yes: signage, point-of-sale displays and in-store communication, designed with the packaging so the shelf and the product follow the same rules. I produced retail materials and signage at Officine Générale, including international communication tools.

What should a packaging brief include?

The product and its dimensions, where it will be sold, the planned quantities, the identity it must sit within and any finishes you have in mind. A photo of the shelf, or of the products it will sit next to, is often worth more than a long document.
